Want to earn extra money without working? Ever wondering how to get rid of those junks in your closet? Do you want to have a clutter free domain but are clueless as to what things go into the trash and what remains? Then its time to organize your things, keep those things for keeps and open up a garage sale right in front of your house.

Garage Sales are second-hand sales or thrift shops wherein an unused item is disposed at a lower price. In this way, a neighbor who is in need of one of your items but does not have enough budget to buy a new one can buy yours at a lower price. Stuffs sold at garage sales are usually second hand items in good to excellent working condition. Now dont be pressured in selling your favorite stuffs on garage sales as you can label them as for keeps. You have the option as to what you can sell and what you want to keep.

Garage sales are a fast way to earn money and the same time tidy up your home. There are actually items that we attained in the past without really thinking about its necessity so it usually ends up in our closets collecting dust. These items can move on and find new owners in garage sales. Sellers are on an advantage too as he/she can enjoy an organized house and a fatter wallet.

Usually the money earned in the garage sale is used to buy new furniture pieces in the house. Furniture pieces are also being sold in garage sales as well as baby cribs, baby furniture, old toys, etc. which would not be used anymore. Garage sales are also a time to get to know your neighbors well and keep up with whats happening to the people around you.

The All Town Garage Sale will be at Abita Springs, Louisiana this year. Head off at the garage sale and see useful pre-owned (or pre-loved) items on sale at fair prices. Who knows, you just might get what youre looking for!

Scrap booking is an art that has been around since the 16th century. Scrap booking is craft making using photographs and accents on photo albums. Scrap bookers or Scrap booking crafters is earning a lot from it by turning their simple hobby into a money making opportunity. Scrap booking is a womans hobby though some men nowadays enjoy making one too!

Scrap booking is a fun and artistic way to dress up, organize and be creative with your photo albums. There are endless possibilities to do in scrap booking; from having fun with your baby pictures to decorating family vacations photos. Scrap booking is generally a womans hobby though some men are getting the hang of it too!

Basic materials involved in scrap booking that a beginner should know are: a photo album, photos, art or patterned paper, scissors, adhesives and art pens (for journal). You may want to be extra creative and place embellishments such as buttons, ribbons etc to make it more creative. Some scrap books uses thick adhesives to give the photos a layered effect.

There are many available albums that can be used for scrap booking and the most important is to plan ahead what kind of album you would wan to use for your first scrap booking project. There are 2 basic kinds of albums and those are: ring bind and book bind albums. Ring bind albums are bounded by rings and can come as a three ring to multiple ring bounded albums. Book bind albums are those where leaves are adhered to the books bind.

There are a lot of ways on how to save money for crafters. One tip is to use recycled glass jars as container boxes for buttons or other embellishments. A used silverware tray may also be used to separate scrap booking knick knacks. Cigar boxes, candy jars and juice bottles are also excellent storage for embellishments.

If you are new to card making and looking for card making ideas, rubber stamps are a perfect addition to your craft box. Rubber stamps can be used in a variety of ways, therefore they are well worth investing in.

When you begin crafting or card making it is important that you do not rush out and buy everything you see. You will save a huge amount of money if you purchase a few items, some stamps and embossing powders until you find out some card making ideas or find out what your special interest is, whether it is animal stamps or flowers or what ever interests you.

Never buy cheap stamps for your card making, although some stamps are quite expensive they will produce a much better print and have a crisper look if they have been properly made.

Rubber stamps range in price, usually the larger or more detailed rubber stamps are expensive. I always consider how many times I can use a stamp for my card making before I purchase one. Some of the larger stamps can also be repeatedly stamped and used for decouapage, which will create a completely different type of card.

If you do decide to use a rubber stamp for decoupage never cut it into the embossed lines as this may cause the embossing powder to flake off and look unattractive.

I find the stamps that are mounted on a clear block are great for beginners as you can see exactly where you are stamping leaving less room for error.

The biggest tip that I can give you is that when using rubber stamps that you will emboss, you should lightly brush the area of card you are going to stamp on with talc. This will stop the embossing powder sticking to other parts of the card as well as the ink.

Always lay your stamp flat and take the ink pad to it rather than pushing the stamp into the ink pad. This will ensure that the entire design on the stamp is evenly covered in the ink.

Remember once you have used the stamp it is important to clean the stamp and remove the entire ink residue. Depending on the type of ink you have used for your card making ideas, it may not be necessary to use expensive ink removers, I find an acid free baby wipe works just as well as some of the chemical solutions you can buy from craft shops.

Always store your ink pads level and upside down to prevent uneven ink distribution and keep the ink on the top of the pad ready for its next use.

Rubber-stamping can be used for all your card making ideas and also for scrap booking, however it is important that you use ink that is acid free and fade resistant to ensure that your project looks bright and effective.

by Charlie Reese

Antique Knives

My fascination with antique knives started when I was just a little kid. I used to love going to look at the medieval armor in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. My parents took us the Metropolitan Art Museum nearly every weekend, and we would spend hours there. I would usually spend most of my time looking at the big suits of armor. I loved swords, knives, daggers, axes, and all other manner of weapons.

My favorite of all were the antique knives. There were some pretty decorative ceremonial daggers there. Of course they had the daggers used in sword fighting, but they also had knives from other parts of the world. They have antique Bowie knives from frontier times, strangely curved scimitars from the Far East and wickedly undulating Indonesian daggers.

I actually started my antique knife collection when I was 13, although I didn’t know it yet. They were selling some old knives at the flea market I want to with my dad. He thought it was about time for me to own my own pocket knife, so when I asked for one he acquiesced. I didn’t really know they were antique knives. They looked like old, somewhat weathered blades with ornamental hilts. The one I bought had scrimshaw on it. It was only years later that I realized that it was made out of whalebone.

Since then, I have collected many different antique knives. I love anything that is old, and so my antiques collection is pretty extensive. I have antique armor, old records, a phonograph machine from the 20s, and many other pieces of curio. Nowadays I’m not as obsessed with weapons as I used to be as a kid. I still like them, but I have spread out to try collecting other things.

Still, there is a certain childish joy I get when I look at my antique knife cabinet. I have a genuine Bowie knife from way back in the day, stone knives found at an archaeological site, and a World War II GI knife. I could go on, but you get the idea. Unless you’re a nerd for collecting old weapons like me, you probably won’t appreciate it that much. For me, however, there’s something beautiful about antique craftsmanship. Looking at hand made and individually decorated antique knives never ceases to be a source of joy for me. I know it will never get old no matter how long I live for.

Practically all fashion jewelry is imported, so you should seek a jewelry supplier that gets jewelry on an international basis. A worldwide jewelry allocator will generally have a more reasonable price and a more extensive inventory. The more places the jewelry supplier gets its inventory from, the more promising it is that you will be able to receive the mixture of pieces you anticipate for a good deal. Furthermore, you’ll be warranted a resolute flow of contemporary pieces, and your ability to get a hold of the wholesale jewelry that you expect won’t be impeded by worldly issues that negatively affect those wholesalers with simply one supply chain.

A wise jewelry supplier will offer up the latest fashion styles. Unless you’re engrossed in the fashion domain, you won’t be aware of the nuances of seasonal jewelry trends. An adept wholesale jewelry store will do your research for you, and provide pieces that mirror the newest offerings in jewelry design. You don’t want to be caught with chunky necklaces when delicate filigree is in style, but you would like to be sure you possess plenty of hoop earrings when they arrive at the fashion runways.

Certain classic jewelry types will always sell, and it is imperative to carry the steady selling classics. Although it’s important to have a variety of trendy pieces, a good wholesale costume jewelry supplier will also carry the classics, like sterling silver, cubic zirconia, Swarovski crystal, and semi-precious stone jewelry. Unless you specialize in being fashion forward, more traditional pieces are staples that will sell year-round.

An array of different kinds of jewelry will strengthen your market, and add more prospective buyers. Accessories comprise of more than earrings, bracelets, and necklaces, so your wholesale jewelry supplier should carry an across-the-board diversity of pieces. Anklets and toe rings are must-haves, but so are body jewelry, cell phone jewelry, hair accessories, key chain charms, and gemmed belts.

Basic considerations for all suppliers should be minimums, shipping, and customer satisfaction. When you’re shopping for wholesale jewelry, find a costume jewelry supplier that has a reasonable minimum purchase. You may not be able to – or want to – commit to investing a significant sum of money in fashion jewelry. An online wholesale jewelry store, for example, may only have a fifty-dollar minimum order, which is a perfect place to start.

In addition, it’s important that the supplier you select has the merchandise in stock, rather than forcing you to wait until they receive their jewelry import. Look for a company that ships on the same business day or by the next business day at the latest. Finally, one of the best ways to judge a wholesale jewelry supplier is by their commitment to customer satisfaction. The supplier should be able to provide you with testimonials, and attest to the importance of customer satisfaction to their business.

If you desire to increase your income and love woodwork, then you should maybe think about starting a home based business. A individual who has good woodworking skills can easily start his or her business from home, start small and build a portfolio of your best work.

If you want to make a career in woodworking then it is indeed an excellent idea. There are many examples of individuals who have become rich with the aid of a woodworking business. If you are truly serious then it is just a matter of time to become successful in this business. Woodworking businesses can be regarded as a good source of income. If you love to work with wood then there should not be any problem in starting a woodworking business.

Many have doubled their income by doing woodworking part time. Handcrafted wood is in great demand. If the handcrafted wood has a exquisite design and is of good quality then you can simply ask the price you want from the customer. If you are good at wooden toys then it is indeed a golden opportunity to begin a woodworking business at home. Kids simply love to play with wooden toys. Most wooden products are marketable today.

If you are a skilled worker in making furniture such as cabinets, chairs and so forth, then you should not think twice to start a woodworking business. Cabinets and chairs are used every day and are as well in great demand. Therefore there is no way that you will remain idle if you begin a woodworking business. In fact the orders of producing cabinets and furniture will be so much that you will have to engage skilled workers.

At present the woodworking business is booming. So, there is no reason that you will make a loss if you start a woodworking business. If you have the skill and talent mixed with some design flair, then you can easily make money with a woodworking business.

If you want to start a woodworking business then you should know the necessities for beginning this business. More importantly you should be clear about the type of wooden products that are going make. From the type of wooden products you will get a definitive idea about the tools and supplies that you will need to begin your business.

A good idea when you start is to advertize your business through newspapers this is a great way to pull in potential clients. You could also make your own website where you can showcase your products to your prospective customers. A internet site is indeed a nice way to showcase all your wooden products. You could as well make additional money with your web site, by placing adverts with the name of suppliers in your city that can supply the varying woods needed as well as wood manufacturing tools.

Never make the mistake of utilizing substandard materials. Quality is important especially in wooden products that will be in everyday use. A inferior product will definitely ruin your reputation, which will have an unfavorable effect on your woodworking business or it could even put you out of business.

For all you hobby enthusiasts out there, here a few tips to get out of the little troubles in your work:

by Alix Montoya

For all you hobby enthusiasts out there, here a few tips to get out of the little troubles in your work:

Ever get tired of your brushes always getting hard and stiff after you use them for paint or glue? Acrylic paint is the worst for this kind of thing because it crusts so easily. What you can do is wash your brushes after every use with a little bit of soap and warm water. In case they’ve already hardened, don’t fret. You can leave them on a cup of fabric softener and they’ll be as soft as new.

Do you paint a lot in your hobby? If so, you better place some newspaper on your work table to keep the paint from getting to places. It helps prevent the paint from staining your work table too. If you are working with really thick paints that bleed a lot, try doubling the layers to keep them from bleeding through. You can even try tripling it just to be sure.

If you want to remove glue stains from your clothes, or your furniture or wherever you don’t want glue on, you can try using some rubbing alcohol. It softens the glue up and dissolves it easily. Rubbing alcohol is good for glue stains that have already hardened too.

If you want your bottles to unscrew easily, you can try covering them up with some plastic wrap first before screwing the lid in. You’ll soon discover that this prevents your previously opened paint or glue bottles from crusting up and it will also make opening the bottles a lot less harder.

Are you trying to paint small items and finding it harder and harder to hold them as you go along? Try looping a small piece of masking or clear tape and placing it on a pencil’s eraser’s end. Use this to hold the little item you are trying to paint and paint away. If you want to dry it, just leave the pencil in a cup or any pencil holder.

You probably have already experienced attending a craft show before where most of the people either own a booth for themselves or are generally clueless about the way things should be going. If you are a part of the latter group and this is your first time, then you would do well to be well prepared for anything that might happen.

Everyone knows that you are good at what you do. You have finally created an original design that you are sure would be a great hit on crafting show judges. Your cute little trinkets need the honor and attention that they deserve and you’re convinced that the world needs to give it to them.

But how exactly do you let people see it?

You got it right! Crafting shows are the best way for you to get the fruits of your hard work on the lime light. They are becoming more and more numerous nowadays and some people are actually living off of what they make from selling their hobbies. It’s a great way for you to make a little extra cash and get recognized as an expert craftsman.

The thing that separates the craft trade show rookies from the veterans would be the amount of knowledge that they have. Obviously, veterans would know more. But now, there is a way for you to get that small head start with a bit of advanced information like dates, venues and types of shows. You are going to need all the information you can get to prepare well.

All of those information, luckily, can be found on crafting show calendars and there are plenty of websites out there that offer a subscription to this service. They are your most powerful tool besides your scissors or your spatula.

The crafting show calendars are invaluable for everyone who has a passion for their craft and wants to showcase it on trade shows all over. It saves you a lot time, money and effort. It also gives you a planned advantage against those who aren’t prepared with enough information.

You can find yourself befuddled by all the things needed in order to arrive on top on your first crafting show. So save yourself some time and subscribe to a craft show calendar now.
